I’d received a complimentary book with an issue of ‘Mother&Baby’ and it was lying around until our Little One started regularly browsing through it. This book is a very short story about a crocodile, named Mr Crock, who does three things: he reads a book, brushes his teeth and goes to bed.
Although I don’t like the style of the pictures, I must admit that ‘Good night, Mr Crock’ has proved to be a very useful book. After reading this story for a few days, our Little One let us brush his teeth with a toothbrush without getting upset or stroppy. What’s more, he started asking us to brush his teeth.
When our Little One was about a year old, we added a fourth book to his night reading routine. It wasn’t a dedicated bedtime story; it was an extra book we started reading. One night it might’ve been a story about dinosaurs; another night we might’ve read a story about trucks or diggers. Actually, we let our Little One decide what he would like to read, hiding his noisy books away.
Not very long ago, we started looking out for a bedtime story that would be more appropriate to our child’s age. Now this search is over, thanks to Granny who bought a very ideal book for bedtime.
This lovely story about fun at a birthday party has definitely cast a spell over our child. There are ten press-out animal characters that you slot into special bed pockets on every page while reading the story. Every time you find an animal or two, fallen asleep while playing games during the party, you suggest that they should be tucked into their beds. Doing so, you’re wishing ‘Goodnight’ to them. We usually end reading the book saying, ‘Now all the animals have gone to bed. What shall we do?’ Our Little One cuddles his bunny and goes straight to bed.
