My Exam Result

I’ve just got my exam result – pass. To be honest, I never doubted this. I only wondered how much I would score. Now I know the answer – 80% .

I remember my feelings after opening the exam paper: panic started coming over me. Although I’d done the exam papers for the past five years and the provided specimen, this paper seemed more complicated. Also, it gave an impression that all the tasks were written in a completely different language.

A few people gave up and left the room, but I took a deep breath and started doing the first task. Remembering a piece of good advice, I skipped all the tasks that would give me less than three points. Soon I got to tasks that I considered a piece of cake, so I became more confident.

The second part was easier, I needed to solve only two tasks out of four. Quickly I chose two of them and I thought I managed them well. However, my results told me that I’d lost lots of points on the first one and I couldn’t believe my eyes.

Back to the exam. After finishing the second part, I returned to the first and started doing two point tasks. Unfortunately, soon the exam was over. Although I hadn’t tackled all the tasks, I did the best part of them. So I was sure I would get the threshold.

On my way home, I expressed all my frustration to my husband who was kind to hear me out. When later I opened the University forum, I found that lots of students complained how hard the paper was. I felt a bit better.

Seeing my result, I know I really did my best and I’m proud that I managed to get “Grade 2 pass” doing maths in English, which isn’t my first language. So, I’m going for a new course soon.
